Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Female
Good Morning, My parakeets hatched 4 baby birds. The smallest died within a week and there are now 3 left. The two oldest birds are 2 weeks old. The third baby is half the size of the other two and we are worried it is not getting enough food. Could we give it some supplement baby bird food?

If you think the baby bird is not being fed enough or is being ignored by its parents, you can definitely try adding in some supplemental baby bird food to see if it helps. Most pet stores carry baby bird formula along with syringes, and the packaging should have feeding instructions for your bird's age and weight. Looking up a few videos on feeding baby birds may also help, so you can learn what a full/empty crop looks like to adjust your feeding schedule. If supplemental feeding isn't helping, or you're seeing other issues or signs of illness in addition to the reduced growth, scheduling a vet checkup is always best to rule out any issues such as underlying health or genetic problems that could be causing it.
