My dog was hit by a car. Why is he still in pain and not moving?

My dog Kobe was hit by two cars 4 days ago, we took him to the vet and they said he had no broken bones and gave us pain meds but ran out. He doesn’t move all day unless we turn him around or pick him up. He could stand but not walk but his legs still move perfectly. When we turn him around or move his neck to the side he screams but clams down after massaging it. Kobe has been looking better everyday since the hit, but is he just sore from the hit or is there something else wrong with him?

Hello. I am so sorry for Kobe. He needs to be kept on some pain medication, perhaps as long as a week or 10 days. Call your vet in the morning so that he is not without pain medication all weekend. You can also gently treat his neck with heat & cold compresses. Alternate with a fresh towel out of the dryer for 10 minutes, then use a cold compress ( bag of peas wrapped in a towel ) for 10 minutes. Do this 2-3 times daily to help with his discomfort. I hope he is doing better soon. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
