Is my 2-month-old kitten eating too much food for her small size?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 2 months and 22 days old | 10 lbs

My female kitten is only 2 and 1/2 months old and 2.4 pounds, yet she's eating almost half a cup of food a day 2 ounces of dry food kibble and 1.5 oz of wet canned food. Is this normal?

This is about normal for a kitten this age. However, different cat food brands have different nutrient profiles, so it's best to feed according to the manufacturer's directions. Each food will have a recommended daily feeding amount on the packaging. You can check this as a good guide to see if she is eating more or less than she should. I hope that helps and all is well with Anika.
