Why is my 10-year-old Golden Retriever's eye drooping and pink?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Female | spayed | 10 years old

My pedigree golden retriever has a drooping, right eye, that's slightly pink. She's just turned 10 & has also been very healthy, never any issues at all. She's her usual happy self apart from her eye. No other symptoms, no dizziness, no issues with balance, eating normally, etc. She spends a mixture of time inside and outside She loves rolling in the garden so I thought she might just have some dirt in her eye but given her age I'm wondering if it's something more serious? Thank you.

It looks like Grace's third eyelid is up more then her eye is drooping. I would recommend a veterinarian. SHe may just have some irritation or infection in her eye but she could also have scratched her cornea. With eyes, I always recommend having the animals see a veterinarian to make sure there is nothing serious going on. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
