My 18-year-old cat is skinny, bleeding, and having accidents. What's wrong?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 18 years and 1 month old | 6 lbs

My cat is 18 years old and recently she’s really reduced her eat and has literally reduced down to skin and bones. She’s lost a lot of few and a few times she climbed onto my bed with her back bleeding, from which I don’t know. And she has been pooing and weeing in random rooms in the house- even if we let her out frequently.

I recommend taking Princess to a vet. As cats age they can develop multiple different systemic diseases which they can develop these symptoms. The most common being diabetes, kidney disease and hyperthyroidism. Your vet can run blood work to see if she has any of these and discuss treatment with you. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

I strongly recommend you take Marvin to your vet for an exam and some blood work. He may be suffering from hyperthyroidism or a kidney condition or even diabetes. All of these can be diagnosed easily with a blood test. Treatment is not difficult and can result in a) good quality of life and b) is not too expensive c) will definitely extend Marvin's life. Please make an appointment soon.
