Is my dog's vomiting normal after IV treatment for eating pills?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | spayed | 11 months and 30 days old | 10 lbs

My dog had IV treatment last night at 7pm until about 12 midnight because she ate a bottle of allergy pills the vets made her vomit and gave her charcoal before. Today she is drinking fluids but she did vomit twice and the second time she threw up most of the food she ate today. Are these normal symptoms following IV treatment in dogs? She is drinking water on her own and im going to feed her white rice in a little bit. She threw up at about 4:12pm today. She is peeing and pooping normally.

Hello. I would not be concerned after everything Bell has been through. This was a lot of stress. Feed her very small meals consisting of 75% boiled white rice & 25% cooked chicken breast for a day or so. Her GI tract should settle down & the vomiting will stop. Thnks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
