My dog got into a 1 second fight with a cat. Afterwards, I noticed there was red stuff around her eye, and it was blood! She has a little glop of blood on her eyeball, however the scratch seems to be on the eyeball itself; not the pupil.

Please take her in right away to have the eye checked. If the claw punctured her cornea it can become infected and without proper treatment she could lose sight in that eye. They will stain the eye to check for corneal damage and start the appropriate treatment right away. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to help you care for Princess.

I'm so sorry this happened to Pandora. Anytime an eye is involved, I have it examined to be on the safe side. Hopefully, it is just a scratch to the tissue around the eye that is causing the bleeding, but if there is an injury to the eye it needs to be treated right away. I would recommend taking Pandora to an emergency vet today if your vet isn't open (because of the holiday). I wish I could tell you that it was going to be OK, but eyes can get severely infected too quickly for me to be comfortable monitoring it at home. Good luck! I hope Pandora is OK!

Poor Coquito! I am unable to say what is wrong with his eye without seeing a photo, however, in my experience, eye issues are typically very painful and can quickly turn into emergencies. He may have damaged the cornea or the eye lids, or the vessels in the sclera may have burst due to increased pressures or trauma. Plain saline drops are typically harmless, but they will not cure any injury to the eye, and may stress Coquito out to apply them. A vet will also be able to make sure that he is okay otherwise - no other cuts or bruises, no broken bones, and no internal damage.

Hi and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sorry to hear B got into a cat fight this morning and was scratched on the face. If the cat scratched his eye, this could be causing the bloodshot appearance. Scratches to the eye can result in corneal injury which can lead to eye infections. I would recommend B see his veterinarian soon for an exam and staining of the eyes to make sure no scratches to his cornea where endured. If needed, B may go home with antibiotics or other medications as needed for his eye if it appears infected to his veterinarian. I hope this helps!

Poor Choco! This really needs to be seen by a veterinarian as it will likely become infected and for what you described it may need surgery to save his eye. However as I understand that is not possible you can try applying saline drops and keeping the site clean and wiping away any discharge from the bottom of his eye that may occur. Also he should wear an E collar at all times so he cannot scratches or rub it. There are some veterinarians that do payment plans as well something called care credit you may want to look into so you could take him to a veterinarian soon.
