Is homemade wet food safe for dogs, especially with megaesophagus?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 2 years and 8 months old | 50 lbs

Wanted a professional opinion on homemade dog food. I spend $300 every 8 weeks on dog food because one of my dogs has Megaesophagus. Gets dry food, water, then chunky wet food to push it all down. Wondering if I can make homemade wet food for her and maybe my other dog too.

This is defis motley a possibility but I would visit www.balanceit.com to help you come up with a balanced recipe. They even have recipes from veterinarians for specific medical conditions. I would look to see if they have megaesophagus listed. If not, you will just want to look for a recipe that has the consistency you are looking for. I hope this helps.
