When should I deworm and vaccinate my new puppies and their mom?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Hello, our dog gave birth to puppies last week and we wanted to know if we need to deworm all the puppies and the mom as a precaution starting at 2 weeks? Also, which dewormer would best to buy to do at home? We also wanted to make sure if its okay to vaccinate the puppies with canine spectra 5 starting at week 5. Last question, should we also put kennel cough nasal liquid or vaccines for the puppies? or is that just optional?

Deworming puppies is recommended with pyrantel at 2, 4 and 6 weeks. This can be purchased at any pet store. Vaccines are started at 6 weeks that incude distemper and parvo. Bordetella is not started to 8 weeks and is optional
