Hello. I am sorry that Bella is unwell. This sounds serious enough that I would really encourage you to have her examined as soon as possible. Coughing & heavy breathing can be a sign of infection from bacterial or fungal sources ( pneumonia ), inflammation from chronic bronchitis, heartworm disease, or cancer. I hope you can have her seen soon so the appropriate treatment can be started. The longer you wait, the more potential for permanent lung damage to occur. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I’m sorry to hear Bella isn’t feeling well. If she is coughing I recommend taking her to a vet for an exam, radiographs of her chest, and possible blood work. She could have a heart condition, a lung problem, heartworm disease, parasites, a fungal infection, or an allergy. You need a diagnosis to find out how to treat her and it may not be something that is contagious to other dogs. Also, please be cautious with essential oils as they can be toxic to pets. Once a diagnosis is made, the vet can discuss ways to help her. Good luck and kisses to Bella!

Hi, if Bella has always been quite healthy she could be suffering with Kennel Cough. If she has been panting, getting tired more easily, then it could be a sign of a heart condition. i would recommend to have her checked over to put your mind at rest.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Bella. I am sorry to hear about her recent struggles. I recommend she sees an emergency veterinarian today. Coughing up blood is worrisome. She will be examined and will likely need x-rays of her chest as well as blood work. It is important that she is checked for a bleeding disorder since she now has blood coming from more than one body system. Has she been exposed to rat poison at all? D-con, for example, can cause bleeding problems in dogs. I hope you are able to find some answers and get her feeling better. I hope this information helps!
