My 4-week-old kitten has green, liquid poop. Is it overfeeding?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | 1 month and 3 days old | 0.882 lbs

I have two kitten which are around 4 weeks old. I'm providinv them a kmr formula from last 6 days. Their poops are not looking fine to me. One of them's poop is greenish with a lot of liquid . Does it happen due to overfeeding. Because from last 3-4 days i was providing 50ml of milk 3 times a day to each of them . I'm providing poops pic here to make it easier to identify their problem.

Hello. At 4 weeks of age, you should be weaning these kittens onto a good kitten food. 50 ml of milk 3 times a day may just be too much for them, especially if the kittens are less than 1 pound. The other very big cause of diarrhea in kittens is intestinal parasites. I would bring a sample of the stool to your veterinarian & have it examined microscopically. If anything is seen, then the appropriate treatment can be started. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. I would recommend bringing a poop sample to the veterinarian and have it tested for intestinal parasites. With the diarrhea, they may be dehydrated and the veterinarian can help replenish their fluids when seen. The sooner they are seen by a veterinarian the better as severe dehydration can be fatal. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.
