My old budgie's facial wound won't heal. Is it a tumor or growth?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Male

One of my budgies has a saw on one side of his face which will not heal. he rubs it on the perches and it is turning into a large wound. He is otherwise very healthy . At the site of the wound now there seems to be a growth developing. I have a large aviary of 30 budgies, all very clean and healthy. This budgie is quite old, but is healthy and strong and flies well. Please advise, Louise

Hi and thank you for your question. It's not possible to say anything for sure based on this picture, but there is a possibility that this is a tumor rather than a wound. It needs to be biopsied. Regards
