My ball python has a swollen, crusted mouth. Is it mouth rot?

My ball pythons mouth is like swollen red and crusted up I just got him I thought he was a different kind of snake because his mouth is different and really we just looked at him cuz we just got him yesterday and he wouldn't eat I guess he hasn't ate now in 3 weeks and come to find out his mouth is different because it's so swollen he's got like yellow and red crust around the whole outlining of his mouth and I don't know what to do

I’m sorry to hear he is so sick. Stomatitis, mouth rot, is usually a disease of husbandry problems. This means that his care has been sub optimal and his immune system is suffering causing him to get infections. When they are this sick they are in need of veterinary care. Antibiotics will be necessary to help control the infection. Also, here is a great website with all the husbandry needs provided. www.anapsid.org Be patient as reptiles can take a long time to improve. He is lucky you own him Now and can care for him.
