Should I take my puppy for shots if the vet has recent parvo cases?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

My 13 week old puppy is getting her third set of booster shots tomorrow. The vet office she goes to have had 3 positive cases of parvo within the last 24 hours. Will she be safe if I take her there or will she be in danger on contracting the disease?

The veterinary hospital should have strict isolation protocols in place for treating parvovirus and other contagious diseases. I’m sure they disinfect all rooms and equipment as well. If you are concerned you could ask what protocols are in place to help prevent infection. You also might want to carry your puppy in the building since decontaminating the outdoors is difficult.
