Can I feed boiled lamb to my sick dog with IBD, and how much is safe?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

My dog has PLE ad IBD. She has asceties also and is weak ad anemic from bloody diarrhea for 2 weeks. I boiled lamb chop for her, she isn't eating at the moment though I will be trying baby food and 2% fat greek yogurt that was made from skim milk. She has had lamb before, but it was years ago so I will try. She is a 9 lbs Chihuahua, how much can I try it on her to start. Is lamb chop ok or too much fat boiled and fat removed?

Hello. I think the lamb is a good idea. I would offer her a tablespoon or two at a time, & if she enjoys it, you can increase to 1/2 cup or so. sometimes it is better to offer small meals frequently rather than 2 larger meals. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
