My puppy ate queen palm seeds and is vomiting. ER vet needed?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Female | unspayed | 4 months and 11 days old | 24 lbs

My 4-month old Siberian Husky ate two seeds from a queen palm tree two days ago. She was fine until this morning, when she threw up after her breakfast. Later in the day, she got diarrhea before dinner, which she was very hesitant to eat. When she did finally eat, she threw up a few minutes later. I read online that queen palm tree seeds just give an upset stomach. Is this something more serious that we need to go to the emergency vet or can we wait until tomorrow for our regular vet?

If the vomiting persist or there is bloody diarrhea, then you need to go to an ER clinic tonight. You can take her food and water away for the next 4-6 hours and let her stomach rest. Start back with a small amount of boiled chicken and rice or ice and see how she handles that or if she wants it. If she has no appetite or lethargic still by morning, then go to your regular vet.
