Pet's info: Cat | Bengal | Male | 6 lbs
My rescue cat is over 12 years old. He had seizures from last year but now they are every other week. Can you give me any advice please? He is a bengal car, has been in the family 9 years.

Eddie is gorgeous! Thank you for including a picture. If his seizures have increased to every other week, then it is likely time to start some anti-convulsant medications to try to decrease the frequency of the seizures. I am attaching a link to a handout on siezures below. The handout specifically addresses seizures in dogs, but much of the information also applies to cats incuding the medications that we use. https://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?P=A&S=0&C=0&A=560 I would certainly recommend having your veterinarian examine Eddie and perform bloodwork to look for any underlying diseases that could be treated before starting anti-convulsant medications. Good luck! I hope that was helpful. Thanks for using PetCoach.

The best thing you can do for Spike at this time is to have him examined by your veterinarian. There may be an underlying issue that caused the seizures that you can easily prevent. Your vet will most likely want to perform lab work to rule out several common diseases of older cats such as diabetes, kidney failure, and hyperthyroidism. Your vet may also recommend an anti-seizure medication to prevent any further seizure activity. I hope this helps. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Best of luck.
