My dog is vomiting, bloody stool, lethargic. Could it be cancer?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 63 lbs

My dog has been vomiting quite a lot, bloody stool, dark pee, days where he does not want to get up or move at all, not even to go outside or to eat. He is starting to become very aggressive with other animals and starting to growl at me. He has a large black spot on his stomach that bleeds. I was told that what he has is a form of cancer. What should I do?

I am so sorry to hear about Buddy. You do not mention Buddy’s age but a few things could be going on. Foreign body obstruction is possible in any dog that is vomiting profusely. (Especially if he is known to chew or eat things he shouldn’t.) This can also be an infection like parvo or leptospirosis. Kidney or liver disease, and, as you mentioned cancer (possible melanoma or hemangiosarcoma by appearance) is possible. I strongly encourage you to see your vet as soon as possible. S/he will recommend bloodwork and/or X-rays to help narrow down which of the above might be causing the problem. The skin lesion may be totally unrelated to why Buddy is vomiting, dehydrated, etc. Best of luck to you and Buddy!
