Should I apply warm or cold compresses for my dog's ear hematoma?

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Male | unneutered | 4 years and 1 month old | 85 lbs

Golden Retriever with ear hematoma seen twice for lancing and draining. Now on prednisone. Should I apply warm or cold compresses to affected area?

In my experience, ear hematomas treated with prednisone mostly resolve on their own within a week or two. Applying compresses is probably not necessary, but you could apply a cool compress to make Turley more comfortable. Just be sure that you don't accidentally make the compress too cold and don't get water in his ears. If Turley resists the compress then do not apply it as it is likely unnecessary.
