My cat is leaving hard poop nuggets randomly. Is it constipation?

Cat has been leaving mysterious poop nuggets randomly. It's not getting caught in his fur and it happens at random times. I have read that it may be constipation so today I have him wet food. I laid down a scratching pad and he scratched it, laid on it, and he got up and there was a poop nugget on it. What is going on?? Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 6 years and 9 months old | 12.6 lbs

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I have seen cats that are constipated leave hard pieces of stool randomly over the house. I would have your Vet do an exam and take a belly X-ray to evaluate for constipation. Constipation is a symptom of an underling condition: sudden dehydration from an illness, kidney disease or intestinal disease (IBD or intestinal cancer).
