My pit mix had many small bumps on him after we tried a new shampoo. They have mostly gone down but there is one larger open wound/bump on his neck. Dont know how to help.

I would be worried that Java had an allergic reaction to the new shampoo. We will sometimes recommend using Benadryl to resolve the small bumps if we suspect they have occurred due to an allergic reaction. https://www.petcoach.co/canigive/dog/benadryl/ However, if the larger bump is open, then it may not respond to Benadryl. You certainly want to prevent Java from licking or scratching at the wound if it is open because he will make it worse. There are topical salves and medications that you can put on open wounds (https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/dog/dog-health-and-wellness/dog-wound-sprays-and-ointments/vetericyn-animal-wound-and-skin-care), but I would probably recommend having your veterinarian look at it first to determine how deep it is and if it needs oral antibiotics to resolve. Good luck! I hope that was helpful. Thanks for using PetCoach.
