What are these painful, recurring growths on my dog's paws?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 7 months and 6 days old | 37 lbs

Growths on Bruce's feet, starting w/front left ~3 wks ago. They appear then dry out, burst, bleed, crust over; then repeat. Sporadic swelling in surrounding area. Back L did not burst. Back R only minor w/scabbing. Front R seems to have pain when touched, others discomfort or annoyance but no apparent pain. Vet took cells -all epithileal. Ruled out hystiocytoma. No growths in mouth or other areas. Sending one to pathology next week but wondering if you have any ideas/input. Thanks!

Thank you for the question. Histiocytoma would have been my first guess. With sporadic swelling around the areas, I would also be concerned about mast cell tumors. Hopefully, that is not the case, as Bruce Wayne is a pretty young guy! I wish I had more answers for you, but that is what histopathology is for, and I hope they are good answers. Good luck!
