My dog is sneezing, coughing, tired, and choking. Should I see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 10 months and 5 days old | 50 lbs

My dog has started sneezing a lot lately. He's begun coughing as well and chokes on his water. He seems to have less energy than usual as well, should I take him to the vet? He is still eating and drinking water, he just isn't interested in playing or anything else which isn't his normal state. He is obsessed with playing but he looks so tired.

Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. What you're describing sounds as if Angel may have a respiratory infection. This could explain why he is so tired and lethargic. Rather than waiting until the infection potentially worsens, I would recommend having him examined by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate Diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. He will likely need an antibiotic to help treat this. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. Please feel free to contact me if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.
