My dog got a cortisone shot for itching. Why is he lethargic?

Pet's info: Dog | Basset Hound | Male | neutered | 68 lbs

Yesterday I took my 6 year old Basset Hound to the Vet. My concern lots of anal itching and biting. Also my dog had bad odor, always. He was given a cortisone shot, today very lethargic

The lethargy could be caused by the cortisone injection, the itchiness and biting could be due to an anal gland problem or allergies in most cases, if it is not the anal glands then the cortisone injection should help. if he remains extremely lethargic you will need to take him back to the vet urgently.
