I found a stray kitten with skin wounds. Is it serious or contagious?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Egyptian Mau | Male

Good evening and hello. I found a stray kitten yesterday, he looks wounded/infected I’m not sure. There’re few blood drops in his stool. But his overall health seemed good to me, he played and slept very well, I also gave him some milk and water, his eyes, mouth, nose and ears are clean. So basically I’m just worried regarding the injuries on his skin. Dose it look contagious or serious?Thank you for helping have a good day.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! These could be due to ringworm. This could also be just a focal skin bacterial infection or traumatic lesions, among other possibilities. I recommend that you have Simsim evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and treat accordingly. Ringworm can be transmitted to humans so just in case this is what is going with Simsim wear gloves when handling these lesions. Good luck and best wishes!
