Puppy still has hookworms after deworming. When to treat again?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Female | 3 months and 21 days old | 29 lbs

Hello, I treated my newly acquired puppy with a topical deworming solution at 14weeks of age. 4 days after the solution was applied to her back, she defecated one single hook worm. I have now treated her with heart guard at 16 weeks, to which she has defecated a large amount of hookworms. I assume she will need an other treatment. When would I complete this

Hello, and thank you for your question. I would recommend one more treatment of Heartguard in another 4 weeks to completely clear any remaining immature worms in her system. I hope this helps, and that Murphy is feeling better soon!
