Yes, it's fine to walk your puppy around your neighborhood, and to let him be around healthy, vaccinated dogs. Just avoid high-risk areas where lots of strange dogs tend to be, like dog parks and pet stores, until he's finished with his vaccination series :)

HI, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Great questions! I am a big advocate of socializing puppies, so I tell my clients you can walk your puppies on a leash right away. Just do not let them contact other young puppies or dogs who's vaccine status is unknown. Obviously don't let the puppy play with dogs that have recently been sick or be touched by owners who have been around sick dogs. Just like Pediatrician's tell mothers of newborns. Avoid dog parks as well. So yes, it is fine for Wills to walk around the neighborhood and safe to come in contact with your daughter's fully vaccinated dog as long as the dog has been well! I hope this helps!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Yes! It is fine to walk Milo in non-contaminated areas. Park sidewalks and through the neighborhood is fine. Just not dog parks until 2 weeks after her final vaccine. There is a fine line between socialization and contracting infectious disease. She will be fine. Have a great day!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I think there is a fine line between socialization and trying to protect them from infectious diseases. I think it is fine to walk not fully vaccinated puppies on sidewalks, roads and parks that don't have a lot of dog traffic. No dog parks or doggie day care. Only allow play with dogs that are fully vaccinated and not sick. I just tell owners to be smart about it! I hope this helps!
