Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | unneutered | 7 years and 1 month old | 17 lbs

My cat is having nausea since a week (he just vomited once only yesterday) and loss of appetite. Took him to doc he gave Gentamicin Inj & ondansetron inj yesterday but situation hasn't improved & he's drooling a bit of saliva from mouth whenever he's feeling nauseous & he's lip smacking. He's just smelling food & walking away but drinking water. There are no vomiting except once. He's very uncooperative, tried giving him medicines using a dropper and in food but he's not taking them. Sometime administer medications in cats can be very tricky. Have you tried to crush the pill and mix it with a little bit of wet food? Unfortunately if he doesn't eat anything he might need to have the medication injected by the vet for few days. If the symptoms are not improving and the clinical examination is completely normal, I would suggest to perform some basic blood work to try to understand why Billy refuses food. Good luck and post again on the forum if you need further advices.
