Is my dog's noisy breathing normal after neck surgery and bandage?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Maltese | Female | 9 years old | 16 lbs

Dog had small tumor removed under chin/ upper neck area. Vet bandaged her neck. We took her back the next day because it sounded like she had breathing problems. Vet didn't seem concerned and added more padding behind new wrap to help with constriction. She also said dog is snoring in the same way humans do. My dog is constantly making these noises when she is laying down.It sounds like it's labored breathing. Is it normal for bandage to push and cause the noises but not restrict breathing?

A bandage on the neck can cause some pressure on the windpipe but it could also be the swelling as a result of the surgery. as long as it is not severe i would recommend waiting a few more days, it should be resolving soon.
