My puppy bites my ankles. How do I stop this painful teething?

Pet's info: Dog | Pug | Female | spayed | 4 months and 30 days old | 9 lbs

Zoe is still a puppy however i am 73 yrs old we are still housebreaking however when she is out she love to bite at my ankles especially the back and it hurts at times even draws blood i have tried timeouts in a kennel a spray bottle with water to spray on her i have even gone as far as spraying my ankle with the bitter apple spray but nothing helps i am willing to try anything thank you

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! You are likely describing teething which is basically a normal type of behavior when puppies are growing up and it is secondary to mouth discomfort as teeth are growing. I recommend that you get Zoe teething type toys which you can get at your local pet store or online. Anytime that he tries to nibble at you, you say no and give her the toy. This is likely going to resolve the issue. Good luck and have a great day!
