My senior Labrador is distracted. Is 10 mins exercise enough?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Female | spayed | 88 lbs

My Labrador only gets out for ten minutes per day. She is 11, and gets very distracted. She won’t go with me alone but my wife gets home too late to walk with us. I know ten minutes is not a great amount of time but is any exercise better than nothing? I’m just not sure what to do. My wife and I are able to walk her for 30 minutes on Saturdays and Sundays.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Kisses is very cute! I wouldn't be so hard on yourself. I agree that some exercise is better than none. Do what you can and what she'll allow. Maybe when you are at work you can hire a dog walker or a neighbor to walk her once a day to ease your burden? Otherwise if Kisses is happy then I would focus on that! I hope this helps and I wish you all the best!
