My puppy has white eye discharge and is tired. Is this normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Goldendoodle | Male | neutered | 3 months and 25 days old | 30 lbs

My puppy has white dandruff looking stuff under his eye. Is that normal? He’s been very tired lately and doesn’t feel like walking when I take him out! He has a good appetite and likes to play but is sleeping a lot. He has also recently lost 2 baby teeth

Hello, sorry to hear about Pax. It could be that he is having normal eye secretions that are becoming stuck on his fur. As long as he is not itching at his eyes, having profuse persistent discharge, squinting, or having a red eye then I would continue to monitor him. You can use a damp cotton ball to wipe the fur around his eye and keep it clean. If the discharge worsens, or if he develops any sneezing or nasal discharge then you should have him evaluated by a veterinarian as this may indicate an upper respiratory infection. Hope this helps and best of luck.

The white discharge could just be allergies unless he is squinting or messing with the eye then it could be an infection. Dark yellow urine could indicate dehydration or an urinary tract infection. i would have your vet take a look at him and do an urinalysis. They will be able to get him on the proper meds if needed. I hope this helps!
