Why did my Westie's head bumps disappear? Are they sebaceous cysts?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | West Highland White Terrier | Female | spayed | 21 lbs

My 14 year old Westie had 2 vesicles (round bumps on her head about the size of a tiny blueberry - with what looked like clear fluid inside) - they were on her head for many months, and of last night, they just radically disappeared -- any idea why? Please note -- we're THRILLED, but found it odd, they are miraculously gone) ;) (and we searched the house for any weird things - and her head was DRY - it's like they were never there. Just thankful and curious ;)

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! These were likely cysts and probably the cystic material was just released. If this is true, they may fill up again. However, those are usually benign. Westie's are well known for them. They are called sebaceous cysts. Good luck and have a good night!
