My yorkie just went in heat.. she is 4 lb .. and have a 2lb stud for her.. could she have a normal birth or will she need cesarian? Also how big or small could her litter be? Just to get an idea..

Hello, it is difficult to predict wether or not she would need a c-section. Clues that would help determine if she may need a c-section include previous episodes of needing a c-section, being overweight, and having an abnormal external genitalia conformation. You could consult with a veterinary theriogenologist for a pre-breeding exam to determine if there are any abnormalities within her external genitalia or her overall health which would predispose her to complications with labor. In terms of litter size, she could have anywhere from 2-8 puppies if not more. Hope this helps and best of luck.
