My hamster is passing out often. What's wrong and should I see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Unknown - Small Animal | Female | unspayed

My hamster has recently been passing out. It has happened twice recently within this fortnight, and about four times overall. It takes us around half an hour to an hour to get her back round. She lives in a large bin cage, and has a heat mat under the cage for the colder months. Could you please advise? Thanks and Kind Regards

Hi and thank you for your question, This is quite unusual for a hamster. Not something common. Diagnosing the cause will require a visit to the vet and some tests to see if Honey's systems are functioning well. It is a good idea to take a short video when it happens and to show it to the vet so he/she can see exactly what is happening. Regards
