Is all-stage dog food okay for my 9-month-old puppy? Too much protein?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

My dog (toy poodle, female, now in 9.5 months, 2.94kg) who was fed with all stage grain free dog food since her 4 months. She was fed with about 70g of dog food a day and supplemented with a little portion of chicken breast / egg per meal. However, the guideline of the manufacturer is only 45-50g a day. I am afraid she will be with too much protein. Beside, as she was fed with all stage dog food, i am afraid of this will be not as good as the puppy dog food.

Ideally, growing dogs should be fed puppy food as their nutritional needs are different, especially for minerals such as calcium. Energy demands and protein levels are generally higher for growing dogs so as long as she has not become significantly overweight or has any lameness/joint pain this diet would be unlikely to have any side effects!
