Why is my old dog suddenly whining, not moving, and won't eat?

Hi! I have a Labrador retriever. I don't know his exact age but he's old. Im guessing he's around 8 yrs old. He was perfectly fine last night but today early morning (pre sunrise) he started barking slightly and whinning. He's very well trained and understands everything I say. However, when i called him in the morning he didn't come. He tries to move but then stops and kept on whinning. I took him outside to poop but he wouldn't move. He loves going out. I also gave him a snack and he didn't e. Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | unneutered | 50 lbs

It is possible this is an arthritis flare up or some other painful event (spinal stroke, Embolism, slipped disk, or other). It is also possible he is recovering from a seizure- which can result in abnormal Behavior for up to a day. There are also neurological diseases and infectious diseases that can cause weakness and odd behavior. Take Casper to your local vet who can likely help narrow down the problem with a good physical and neurological exam and can prescribe pain medication if needed.
