Why is my dog's ear fluid golden and increasing after vet visit?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Maltese | Male | 1 year old

Hello, so I took my dog to d vet for his bloody ears, and I was told he has liquid in there. He was given a shot of antibiotics and pain killers. That was on Friday. However, I noticed a drop wen he shook his ears which indicates water. Yesternight, I checked the ears and found that the whole stuff had turned gold in colour and it was much more than before. What could be wrong please?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! You may be referring to ear hematomas. This is usually treated with a relatively simple surgical procedure. However, it is hard to know without being able to see this. I would encourage you to contact your veterinarian to let them know that he has not improved to see if that is something that seems likely based on their examination. Good luck!
