My kitten cut his paw outside. Should I take him to the vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

My kitten had cut his lower paw, I'm not sure what it is called. He cut it when outside. He has a bigger slice down the side of it and then some skin has been removed near the back which I can't seem to get a picture off. It is VERY muddy and I have tried to clean it as best as I can but I don't want to hurt him or make it worsen. What do u suggest? He doesn't seem to be in pain unless it's touched does this require a trip to the vets?

Ouch, your poor kitten! I would have him seen by a vet for it. He may need to be sedated in order to clean it properly, and it may need stitches to close the cut. In addition, since he cut it outside, he will likely need antibiotics to prevent the cut from being infected. I would take him into a vet. Good luck, I hope this helps!
