My cat has a lip blister for weeks. Is it a cyst? Does she need a vet?

My grandmas cat has a blister on her lip, like a clear, pus filled blister. Eats and drinks just fine. My question is will it pop eventually or does she need medical attention. Shes had it for a few weeks, doesnt seem to bother her.

Given that she has had it for a couple of weeks, I would have her seen by a vet for it. It may not be a blister, it could be a cyst. The vet can determine what is causing this skin problem and how best to treat it. I would take her into the vet on Monday or Tuesday. Good luck, I hope this helps!

Any lumps/bumps that you notice on your pet should be checked out by your vet. Lumps in this location can be any of these things: * abscess (infection) * cyst * cancer (benign or malignant) * rodent ulcer I suggest you find a vet to take him to for an examination. There are no home treatments for any of these possibilities. Also, treatment depends on what the lump is - all those possibilities have different treatments.

The lesion on Bamboo's lip is quite prominent. It could be due to infected hair follicles, an indolent lip ulcer (although the photo does not quite look typical of this), or a benign or malignant mass. Since this lesion has grown fairly rapidly over just a day or two, she should be examined by a vet sooner rather than later. The vet will likely need to perform a fine needle aspirate, whereby they will draw out a sample of cells with a needle (it's quick and relatively painless!) so that they can be examined microscopically. From there, the vet will be able to determine if Bamboo should be started on a course of antibiotics or if she will need to have this lesion surgically excised. I hope that all goes well!

My main coon has what I think is fever blisters on her lip. Should I be concerned?
Hi there and thank you for using Boop by Petco to address your concerns about Buttercup! Based on the photo you provided, it appears as though what is shown in the video could be blisters or cysts that have developed on the chin region. I would recommend applying a warm water washcloth to the area 2-3 times daily and consider applying a veterinary product with benzoyl peroxide in it. I would also consider having a veterinarian take a look at the area as an in person evaluation would give you more of an answer. The veterinarian can take a small needle and see if any contents can be expressed from the area to confirm if it is a cyst or not. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction!

It's difficult to know what this might be without being able to examine it in person. It could be a cyst or potentially related to a salivary gland. I would recommend rechecking with your vet - they might recommend removing it for a biopsy to determine what it is, or they might recommend continuing to monitor it.

I have a 2 year old male cat that has a blister that appeared on his lower lip. He is an indoor cat and only has been around one other cat. The blister does not seem to be bothering him but I am wondering if he is having an allergy to something. The
I suspect he may be developing an ulcer due to allergy or eosinophilic granuloma complex. If the lesion is getting worse I would advise getting it examined by a vet asap as without prompt treatment these issues can become quite severe.

Allergic reactions can cause swelling, however if the area is also blistering or oozing debris it is possible there could be an abscess (infection), virus, burn, ulceration, or other issue causing her symptoms. It would be best to bring her into your vet to have the area examined, especially if the swelling is in the face/mouth.

I am sorry to hear that! I do think going to the vet would be a good idea. Cats can get many types of lumps at their mouths. From your description one thing I would want to rule out is eosinophilic plaques. These can be caused by allergies so getting on a low allergen food (I would recommend prescription due to cross-contamination at the manufacturing level) and medications can be vital! Of course it is hard to tell without looking at her so your vet may want to rule tests or take a biopsy first! I hope this helps!

I am very sorry that Kitty has his sore near her lip. Thank you for proving pictures, it is difficult to know precisely what caused this lesion it may have been a cat scratch, a traumatic puncture from for example a fence, or possible a primary skin like feline acne, or allergic disease. At this stage it appears to be slightly crusted and inflamed and I would suggest a trip to the veterinarian. The vet will most likely clean the wound and debris any necrotic material. The vet may also send home pain relief, anti inflammatory medications and / or antibiotics. The vet will also be able examine the area and reach a diagnosis. Hello. At this point, it looks like Zam Zam has a small cyst on his lip. It would help to know his age, but if he is a pretty young cat, a couple of years or so, then I would not be concerned that this is anything really serious. It may even be related to an allergic response called a rodent ulcer. If it remains this small, then no immediate attention is required, but if it dramatically begins to enlarge, you will want to have it evaluated. Thanks for contacting Boop by Petco.
