My new rescue cat has crusty, draining eyes. What can I do?

Im rescuing a cat very short notice this weekend from an icky situation. She has something wrong with her eyes. They are draining clear liquid and get crusty. I am wondering if there is anything i can do to help relieve discomfort until i am able to get to the vet on tuesday?

How lovely of you to rescue Koya! You can use a wash cloth soaked in warm water to remove any discharge and crusts from her eyes. It's never recommended to use any OTC eye treatments on a cat's eyes. This is because a cat's eye will react differently to it than a human's eye, and you could potentially do serious damage to her eyes. The vet can prescribe the appropriate treatment for her. Poor Bella! What a beautiful kitty she is. I can see that her eyes are definitely very crusty. Eye infections are very common in kittens, and often cause the kind of crusty discharge that you are seeing. She will need prescription eye drops from a vet to treat the infection, so I would recommend taking her for a vet exam as soon as you are able to. Ideally, it would be best to have her seen today at an emergency clinic if possible, because severe eye infections can cause permanent damage and even vision loss in some cases without prompt treatment. If you aren't able to take her to an emergency vet over the holiday weekend, then I would definitely see a regular vet on Tuesday morning so that she can get started on medication to treat the problem. In the meantime, you can use plain saline eye flush to gently rinse her eyes, and clean away the crusty discharge a few times a day with a warm washcloth. I have an outdoor cat and kitten about 3 weeks old and his eyes are crusty looking for a Couple days and today they look red I think conjunctivitis but I can't afford to take him in right now is there anything I can do besides a warm compress
Warm compresses can certainly help, but if there are corneal ulcers and/or an underlying infection, other medications will be required. In addition, this type of ocular abnormality is usually seen in concern with other upper respiratory symptoms. Typically, an antibiotics are required to help resolve these issues. If seeing a veterinarian is simply not an option at this point, I would suggest you obtain some terramycin ointment and use this in both eyes several times a day. in addition, Lysine gel (lots of different formulations out there) can be used in an attempt to help boost up the immune system. Ultimately, a visit to the vet for a thorough exam is what is truly needed. However, if this is what you can manage right now, this is the next best thing to do!

Just got a cat from a rescue shelter and his corner of his eyes look dryer up I just wanna know if he just got something on him or if I should take him to a vet.
The eye does look a little irritated and like there is some hair loss. With any new pet, it's always best to schedule an initial wellness check with your vet anyway, so it would be a good idea to schedule one and also bring up the eye during your visit.

I found 4 baby cat yesterday but the cat have infeccion in there eyes and I don’t know what to put then
Oh these poor little kitties! Thank you for taking them in. They truly need veterinary care because they need to have the eyes checked to be sure they don't have corneal ulcerations, and they likely need medicated eye ointment or drops that is not available over the counter. I would make an appointment at the vet to see them ASAP. In the meantime, you can try to gently remove the crusted debris around their eyes by holding a clean wet cloth over the soiled fur to help soften the discharge and attempt to wipe it off or brush it out. You can also try to rinse the eyes with sterile eye wash available at most pet stores but they do truly need veterinary care to treat the condition. Best of luck to you and your kitties. I would not put antibiotic ointment on the eye without consulting your vet. Moist compresses on the eye in order to soften the crusts and then wipe them off should suffice. If the eye starts to get a yellow or greenish discharge, take the kitten to the vet for an exam and some prescription antibiotics.

My kitten eyes discharge all the time. Now he has dryed hair/skin around nose due to discharge which seems almost black. How can I rectify this?
You can use a soft washcloth moistened with warm water to clean the area. You may need to let it soak to soften up the hair and discharge. If Alex's eyes continue to have discharge, have him examined by a veterinarian to diagnose infection or injury.

Oh poor girl! It appears that you are dealing with a severe case of conjunctivitis. I would recommend that you continue to wipe off the excesive mucus so that her eyes are not crusted shut as that can be quite uncomfortable. The trick is in being as gentle as possible. Try to use something very soft such as a soft towel soaked in slightly warm water. Your veterinarian tomorrow will most likely prescribe other medications to try to improve her condition. Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This could be due to an eye injury or conditions such as a corneal laceration, ulceration or infection, among other conditions. I highly recommend that you have Rissoto evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible for further assessment and treatment as this looks severe. Further therapy would be based on the findings. Hello and thank you for contacting Boop by Petco. I suspect that your kitten has bacterial infection of the eyes. She most likely will need a course of antibiotics from your local vets to get better, but as they are closed now, you need to keep cleaning the sticky discharge with warm, boiled water and cotton buds. Using eye soothing eye drops should be helpful too. The grey membrane is possibly a protruding third eye lid - common finding in cats with eye infections. As soon as your vets are open, please take Mozza to be checked over and to start antibiotics treatment.

Hello, I am sorry to hear about Tom. The discharge and crusting you describe could be signs of an eye infection. Kittens are prone to getting eye infections secondary to a viral infection. You could try gently wiping some of the crusts away with a warm facecloth/towel. If the discharge continues and is significant enough that it prevents him from opening his eye fully I would recommend having Tom seen by a veterinarian so that they can perform an ocular examination and prescribe antibiotics if needed.
