My dog has a dark red blood blister on her paw. What should I do?

Pet's info: Dog | Husky | Female | spayed | 3 years old | 42 lbs

3 year old husky mix, has what looks like a blood blister on top of her paw. Originally it was a cut that began to heal And is now blister like Ana dark red. How can we best help her?

This could be a “hot spot” from licking the cut excessively, related to a bug bite, a small abscess, or, like you suggest, a blood-filled pocket. If Sissy is licking or chewing at it, putting an E-collar on so she can’t lick it is critical for healing. If that doesn’t solve the problem after 3-5 days, or if it looks worse in any way, its time to take a visit to the vet to help determine the cause and best treatment. Good luck!
