My dog threw up after a picked scab and Neosporin. Is she sick?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkipoo | Female | spayed | 10 lbs

My husband picked a scab off my Yorkie poo last night and it left a little hole. We put Neosporin on it a couple of times today and she acted fine. Now she is acting quiet and just threw up. Should I be concerned

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. This is likely nothing to do with the neosporin that you put on the wound. I would recommend initiating a bland diet as outlined below after withholding food for 8 hours. If the vomiting continues or she worsens sooner, I would recommend having her examined by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. If she worsens, it is possible that the hole in the skin is due to an insect bite and she is having an allergic reaction. If she is worsening, I would recommend getting her examined by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.
