My pug has Addison's and hair loss. Is her prednisone dose too high?

Pet's info: Dog | Pug | Female | spayed | 18 lbs

my 6yr old pug has Addison's disease. she receives a shot monthly and prednisolone 5mg daily. she has lost all hair on stomach and legs. vet recommended melatonin 3mg 2xdaily. She started melatonin October, 2017.

I would consider visiting with your veterinarian about lowering the dose of prednisone. Dogs with Addison’s definitely need prednisone, but they usually just need a low dose, but every patient is different and I would not lower the dose without discussing with your veterinarian.
