How many hours of sunlight do lovebirds need daily for good health?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Female

Hi, so my parents spontaneously brought two lovebirds home today, and we've had birds in the past so I'm no stranger to them. But I do have one question, since they're lovebirds.. how much sunlight do they need a day? thank you.

Hi and thank you for your question, I assume you mean day hours vs. night? If so you could give them an even 12:12. That would be closest to what they have in nature. If that's a problem, you could just expose them to the local day/night cycle. They will do well with that too. As to actual hours in the sun, The more the better, so long as it is not cold outside and that when it is hot they have a shaded area. Regards
