Is Vetericyn safe for my dog's wet spay incision to prevent infection?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Female | spayed | 2 years and 5 months old | 7 lbs

Hello my dog was spayed about a week ago I was wondering if It was safe to put vetericyn wound and skin care spray on her incision area to make sure there's no germs or bacteria going into her wound ? It seems like it's been healing ok but this morning it looked a little wet and I'm not sure if it's getting a infection or if that's normal for the healing process .

Yes, vetericyn would be ideal for this - it does indeed look a little wetter than would be expected. Monitor closely for any additional redness, discharge or fever and schedule a recheck if you have any additional concerns
