My dog ate 50mg tramadol. What should I do? Is it safe for an 8kg dog?

There is a large dosing range with tramadol and it is a fairly safe drug so Teddy should be fine. Teddy’s max dose would be about 80mg and he ingested much less than that. You may note that he is more sedate/sleepy than normal but that will wear off in 8-12 hours once the drug is out of his system. Sometimes Tramadol can cause inappetance and GI upset as well so watch for these symtoms too. If Teddy is showing any other abnormal signs like vomiting, diarrhea, or neurologic signs, you should take him to the veterinarian immediately.
