Why are my 6-month-old Pitbull's eyes swollen, squinting, and painful?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | unneutered | 6 months and 14 days old | 50 lbs

Hello there I recently got a pocket Pitbull he is 6 months old and I rescued him from a bad situation I'm taking him to the vet later this week however this is my second week having him and he was rubbing his eyes and his eyes are a little swollen and and he Squints them a lot and doesn't want to open them and acts like they hurt should I be concerned about his eyes

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Bama! I am glad you have an appointment this week. I think Bama should have his eyes looked at today or tomorrow at the latest. It could just be allergies or conjunctivitis but he could have inflammation with in the eyes (uveitis) or scratches on his corneas. The squinting indicates pain. When it comes to eyes its best to have them looked at sooner than later. I hope this helps and i wish Bama the very best!
