My dog threw up a worm. How do I identify, treat, and prevent it?

My down threw up a long skinny worm this morning, it was a yellowish white color what kind of worm is that ? And what can I do to treat it and prevent them.

It was likely a roundworm. It can be gross seeing these come up in the vomitus. You can give her one of two dewormers, found at your local pet or feed store: Pyrantel Palmoate or Fenbendazole. The dosage should be written right on the label; however they may be in generic form so just look for those active ingredients and you have found what she needs. YOu also want to treat her again in 2 weeks, because that is the life cycle of the worm. I would consider keeping Ace on a monthly heartworm prevention from here moving forward, because they all (except for Proheart) contain intestinal dewormer as well.
