My dog is lethargic, shaking, and hasn't pooped. What's wrong?

Pet's info: Dog | Boston Terrier | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 1 month old | 15 lbs

My boston terrier, Luna is 13 months old. In the last three days she has been sleeping a lot and hasn't had a bowel movement and also is shaking/trembling. She is not running a fever but she wont leave my side and is not getting off the bed or being her normal self.

Hello, and thank you for your question. I'm sorry to hear that Luna is unwell. It sounds like she is lethargic, and in some pain or discomfort. It is difficult to pinpoint a diagnosis based on these symptoms alone, but some possibilities include pain from an injury, or abdominal pain such as pancreatitis or a gastrointestinal foreign body. I would definitely recommend getting her seen by a vet within the next 24 hours. They can perform a full physical exam to pinpoint any areas of pain, and may recommend blood work or x-rays to help reach a diagnosis. At minimum, they can offer medication for pain, and constipation if present. In the meantime, I would try offering Luna small, frequent meals of a bland diet such as boiled chicken and plain white rice. Also monitor for any vomiting or diarrhea, or any particular areas on her body that seem painful when touched. These will be important pieces of information to provide to the vet when you see them. I hope this helps, and that Luna feels better soon.
